Hi, I’m Alex. (At Starbucks I go by “Xander.”)

I was born in Santa Monica and grew up in Irvine, California. After a decade working as an actor on stage and on camera, I’m delighted to be a full-time voice actor and Audie Award-nominated audiobook narrator recording from my home studio in San Luis Obispo, CA. As of 2024, I’ve recorded 150+ books. I love connecting with authors, book lovers, and my colleagues in the audiobook industry. I feel incredibly lucky to do this every day. My favorite books to record are thrillers, mysteries, romance, and nonfiction (especially titles related to pop culture and music).

Speaking of music, a decade ago I wrote No Static at All, a one-person play about seeking spiritual enlightenment through the music of Steely Dan. Time Out New York called it “a stunning solo show... What begins as a love letter to a band expands into a ballad that explores the depths of the human condition." The show has played to sold-out houses in New York (Winner: Outstanding Solo Performance at FringeNYC), Seattle, and Los Angeles (Winner: Best Solo Show at Hollywood Fringe Festival).

As a BFA Acting student at UC Santa Barbara, I created, directed, and performed in a physical theater piece called EYE, which featured over a dozen masks that I designed, sculpted, and built. The show was revived at the Summer Cabaret at Yale while I was an MFA Acting student at the Yale School of Drama. The New Haven Independent praised the show: “Watching EYE is like watching a classic Roadrunner or Bugs Bunny cartoon, full of action and humor and fun for all ages. It’s also like watching Spy vs. Spy leap off the margins of MAD magazine.”
